While doing my usual design gallery browsing for cool new artwork I noticed a resurgence in rounded corner business cards designs, which inspired me to create this post. I have always been a fan of rounded corner business cards because of the feeling you can achieve with them. The rounded edges can give your card a more friendly vibe and the rounded edges are perfect for any web 2.0 businesses, which tend to have bubbly, roundish, design elements.

There are many different ways to attack a business card design. Clean & corporate is always nice. But why not get a little wild? This tutorial will walk you through setting up a vertical grungy business card template, front to back and ready to print. It’s important to set up our PSD file correctly right off the bat. The document needs to have an eighth inch bleed area, to ensure our background completely covers the card. So we’ll add a quarter of an inch to the width and height of our template. Standard vertical business cards are 2″w x 3.5″h, so our canvas size should be 2.25″w x 3.75″h. Also, change the Resolution of the document to 300 pixels/inch to ensure high quality printing. I’ve always been a big fan of brochure design because I think its one of the hardest mediums to design for. Brochures are often relatively small in size and packed with lots of information. This makes it very hard for a designer because you need to make the brochure eye-catching and easy to read, but still work in all the important information.
